The Lake Borgne Land Bridge is a narrow area of marsh separating Lake Borgne from the MRGO. Restoring the land bridge will help protect the newly constructed levees along the MRGO, as well as critical wetland habitats.
Benefits:
Mitigate historical impacts of the MRGO channel
Increase protection from hurricane winds, waves, or storm surge
Increase the resiliency of coastal wetlands to erosion, subsidence, and sea level rise
